5 Blogging Tips (Part 1)

Hi! Today I want to share with you 5 blogging tips! These are tips I have learned along the away and that I have applied to my blog. There are so many things that you can incorporate to your blog when you're starting, or make changes here and there to improve your blog if you already have one. So keep on reading if you want to spice up your blog.... (All images have been updated in 2015)

5 Blogging Tips! (part 1)

Don't track your own page views. Blogger has a custom gadget called 'Blog's Stats'. It will count all the hits your blog has made, but make sure not to add your own hits. You want to know how many real hits your blog makes. To make this change when you log in to Blogger go to your Stats. In Stats there's a clickable link that says 'Don't track your own pageviews' make the necessary changes and Save.

No ♪♫♪ on your blog. I find it annoying to come across blogs with music, and I'm sure many of you feel the same way. Probably you're listening to your own music taste, when click, you enter a blog with music! -.- ......annoying! You have to go searching where the pause/stop button is so that you can continue listening to your own music. Then you're probably interested in reading one of their other posts so the page will refresh, and again, music -.- Search for the pause/stop button again. How annoying!!! Makes me not want to visit your blog again!

Add Link Within. Link Within is a great gadget to add to your blog that says 'You might also like' under each blog post. This is great tool because it adds similar blog posts under each post you write. It keeps yours visitors engaged because they might end up clicking on a related entry and it keeps them interested in your blog. You only have to add the HTML coding once and it will appear automatically below each blog post. How convenient right?

Visit your followers. Don't forget about your readers. Always pay them a visit. I always like to visit my readers who leave a comment, and my new followers as well. They will appreciate that and if they're not following you yet this will most likely come back to your blog and subscribe next time. You might also end up following them in return because you like their blog too :)

Take advantage of schedule at. Sometimes I get many ideas of different topics to write about and I end up writing a few blog posts in one day which can be a lot to post everything the same day. So in this case I end up scheduling my posts. When you're writing a blog post there's a set of options on the right bar. You will see the second option down that says 'Schedule', click on it and you will two choices to choose from, 'Automatic' and 'Set date and time'. Select the second one and this is where you can schedule it to your own needs. Pick the date and time that is best for you. When you finish writing your blog post make sure you click on 'Publish Post' so that it will automatically publish your blog post on the day and time you chose. When you go back to your 'Posts' tab you should see beside your post title with a status of 'Scheduled.'

  4. @Marcela, have you tried going to your settings and looking for this option to modify?? Or depending on the type of counter you use, it should have an option to count 'real' hits or 'all' hits. Let me know if this works :)

  6. Thank you. I am still learning what works and is worth the trouble and effort. Without encouraging seasoned bloggers some of us newbies would sink. I appreciate your tips. My blog is pretty basic and I would like to spice it up. However I do have one point on my side (no music) !

  24. Great tips! It took me a few months to realize my own page views were being tracked as well. I now use Google Analytics and have everything set to not do that anymore. I also use CoSchedule for my editorial calendar and scheduling needs. It makes my life a million times easier!
