Don't Support Cruelty!!!

I just started bursting into tears. I was having dinner with my mom, our whole plate included pasta, potatoes, sweet plantains, avocado, and whole wheat bread. We were almost half way through when I asked how she had prepared the potatoes, they were sooo good. Then I asked about the pasta, I assumed she had used my butter preference, Earth's Balance (not made from any animal ingredient). She said no. She started getting all worked out, saying she was going to use her butter preference, that she would prepare her own meals, that she should live by herself, blah blah blah. That's when I started crying..... I just responded, "Why do you want to support animal cruelty? Do you know what these animals go through? Especially the cows for their milk?!!" Tears and tears kept coming, she asked, "What happens to them??" After a few minutes I calmed down, but while explaining I kept sobbing.....

"The female cows are constantly kept pregnant. Once they give birth they immediately get separated from each other, they both cry for days and days. If the baby cow is male (a veal) they get killed for their meat. The mom cows are pumped up with hormones to produce 10 to 20 times more milk than she has to. Because of this they get infection, makes her get pus and bloody. They have to get antibiotics, and all this goes into the milk. They don't live the life they deserve, out in the wild where they belong. The cows have this horrible life for about 7 years and when they are considered too old, they just get killed." My mom kept listening...

My mind kept racing, "The chickens is almost the same. If they are male, they just get dumped to get killed, they are not 'useful'. The female chickens are kept in tiny spaces where they can't even flap their wings. All they can do is lay eggs and die" I kept sobbing, thinking how is this world so cruel. Why is society such a liar!! And why do people listen to dumb ads like, Got Milk?!! We humans DON'T need any animal derived foods, we by nature are herbivores. If you like all these dairy products, there are plenty of replacements for everything without containing any single animal ingredient. Why can't people take advantage of what we have today to inform themselves and stop supporting animal cruelty?! Like the internet, movies, books. For most of my life I was part of the 'blind' group. Not knowing these things. I wish somebody would have told me this. I turned Vegan after reading 'The Kind Diet'. But I know other people become Vegetarians/Vegans after watching 'Food Inc.' or 'Earthlings'. Or maybe after reading 'The Food Revolution.'

After I told my mom all this, she just looked calm. I'm not the type of person to cry in front of others, but this time I just couldn't help it. I felt like she didn't care and just had to explain. I hope others will understand my concern and maybe even look up these movie titles. On a bright side, I know I'm doing my part to help the planet. By being Vegan it's a three way-win. Helping yourself by eating what humans were meant to eat, saving the planet, and not supporting the cruelty of animals. Go Vegans!

A Girl's Perspective on Veganism

Very smart girl, she knows more than most adults!! I got tears in my eyes when I saw this, I want my daughter Lyn to someday know as much as her. ♥ She's only 7!! She talks about what's really good for us to eat and the things we should be wearing without supporting cruelty to animals. Go Vegans!!

A dance by her 'Listen to Your Heart'...

Please people take advantage of the internet and books to do your own research. By becoming Vegans it's a three-way win!! Helping yourself by eating what humans were meant to eat, saving the planet, and not supporting the cruelty of animals!! How cool is that?! Everything for a great change!

If you love animals called pets, why do you eat animals called dinner?  ~As seen on a shirt at veganstore.com

Had to mention her on my blog ♥

TRIA Update - Treatment 8

Yet another TRIA update! This was treatment 8, the photos were taken back on March 20th. I know, it's been a while. I already did treatment 9, and treatment 10 will be May 21st. The first six treatments are done every two weeks, after that, it's every four weeks. That's why it may appeared as if I have more hair because I didn't shave between treatments.

 Arm, ugh pesky lil' hairs!

Leg, furious hairs trying to grow back...

Overall, yes the hairs are visibly less! ♥ I have three more treatments to go! Yayy!

Zoya - Tosca

This is my current-color-nail-polish obsession!! Ahhh! Why?! How?! I've never been fond of wearing red tones on my hand nails, only on my toes. But it's just a lovely color to wear during the hot weather of Miami.

I got this one along with two other lovely colors back in January when they were FREE, you only had to pay shipping. It's a color between red and orange with a bit of orangy shimmer going on...

I even got myself a Calvin Klein dress that matches well this color, yay!

Book Talk, The Kind Diet

Who would have thought I would end up buying this book??? I'm not the type of person to buy any books or movies because I know I'm going to give them use only once and I don't want them laying around. So is this book that good to have bought a copy to own?? I can say it was life changing. It was eye-opening. I felt betrayed by society. I got so many emotions after just reading the first chapter. I'm always into novels/fantasy/vampire type of books. I never ever thought of reading a diet book. I'm not into losing any weight, I feel comfortable the way I am, I just wanted to know the other side of being Vegan.

When I first heard of this book at the same time I was considering becoming Vegetarian once again. I know I had made a blog post about becoming Vegetarian but I had been cheating every now and then. If I saw chicken I would eat it, only if it was fully cooked almost dry. Meat I wasn't liking anymore, not even cheese nor milk!! Why??? I had never been like this, should I turn Vegan? That's when I was watching The Doctors and they had a special guest, Alicia Silverstone!!! One of my fave Hollywood actresses from the 90's. She appeared in the movie Clueless!! She's now pregnant and was talking about her book that had come out last year, 'The Kind Diet'. She said she had been Vegan for around seven years and this is what her book was about. Immediately I requested a copy from my local library as I had been quite intrigued as to why people eat this way, I just wanted to know. I always thought there's no way I would ever be Vegan, you kan't do that! That's what I used to think.

At the same time I wanted a copy of this book I had requested a few books to read to my daughter. I noticed 'The Kind Diet' had a long waiting list! When I received a text message from the library it said the children books were ready to pick up. I had already made up my mind, I won't be reading The Kind Diet, I won't have time for that, I have so much to study. To my surprise when we got to the library, they already had The Kind Diet for me. No way!! The library had only one copy, I had placed the book on request a few days ago, and they already had it for me? Another sign I should read this book.

“When diet is wrong medicine is of no use. When diet is correct medicine is of no need.” – Ancient Ayurvedic Proverb

So I did. As I first started reading this book I just knew it!! This is the book for me, this is the information I needed to know. I felt it! I felt like crying because how can this world be so cruel??? Literally I feel like, "Aliens come take me out of this planet, I don't want to be here!!". So what did I learn? Now I know we humans are natural-plant eaters. As this article says so. By being Vegan it's a three way win!! Helping yourself by eating what humans were meant to eat, saving the planet, and not supporting the cruelty of animals. As of now I'm totally Vegan. Eating meat and drinking milk are the main culprits of people suffering of so many health problems: heart attacks, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, allergies, etc.

"Now I can look at you in peace; I don't eat you anymore." - Franz Kafka

Now I feel like telling everyone, why not take advantage of what we have today, internet and books to make our own research and open our eyes. This is information society, big corporations will try to hide away from us. If you are in it for a big change, all for the best, I think this is the book for you. This book contains so much information and facts about many research studies proving eating meat has so many side effects. Shows you how to make gradual changes to move to a healthier diet. And it also has many eye-delicious recipes which I will be trying soon. This is a book I deff had to own!!

My next blog post on this topic will be about my Vegan experience. All my body changes that have been for the best so far :))
