Hello lovely! In this post I am sharing five cruelty-free products that I did not enjoy using this year 🙁 Unfortunately I won’t be using them again in terms of quality and performance. Read the description below each product to know what was my experience using each one, and what I recommend you do in case you still want to try it for yourself.

Do you have a cruelty free product you are not currently liking? Let me know in the comment section below!

This post is all about cruelty free products to avoid.

Cruelty Free Products to Avoid

Physicians Formula Rosé All Day Mascara

Buy from: Amazon | CVS | eBay | Physicians Formula | Target | Ulta | Walmart

Product description: Physicians Formula Rosé All Day Black Mascara is a highly-pigmented, extremely volumizing, and lash-lengthening mascara that conditions and opens the eye area with dramatic, full bloom lashes.

Key ingredients: Soothing Rosewater, Antioxidant-Rich Goji Berry, Nourishing Kakadu Plum & Conditioning Lifting Blend.

My experience: I wanted to like this mascara SO MUCH for a couple of reasons… One, it’s vegan. Two, it’s affordable. And three, it has rose water and I love anything with roses! Unfortunately the reason why I stopped using this mascara is because every time I removed my makeup I found a couple of my lashes on the cotton. This has never happened to me with other mascaras, and I was worried I was going to loose all of my lashes sooner than later. Sadly I stopped using it for this reason. Other than that, it seemed like a great product.

What I recommend you do: You can still try it though. So far I haven’t seen any of the reviews mention this issue with their lashes.

Teddie Organics Rosehip Seed Oil

Buy from: Amazon

Product description: This oil is a great natural moisturizer which will help to soothe dry skin conditions, minimize the appearance of fine lines and slow down skin aging, Many users have also reported a reduction in redness, age spots, scars as well as improved skin tone and elasticity.

Key ingredient: This bottle contains just one ingredient… Organic, cold pressed, rosehip seed oil.

My experience: When I first started using this Rosehip oil, in my head I was comparing it with a previous brand I had used called Radha Rosehip Oil. The Radha rosehip oil has a light scent that is wonderful, the Teddie rosehip oil smells a little burnt and I disliked this.

My results: As far as the results, I can say I really like it! I was using a moisturizer on my face for a few lines that had appeared on my face and it wasn’t doing anything. Then I started a adding a few drops of this oil and my lines have visibly diminished! I’m really glad about that!!

What I recommend you do: I say you still try it.  I have seen results on my face, and there’s a lot of great reviews. This oil is also good for: dry/itchy skin, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, redness/uneven skin tone, acne, stretch marks, cuts, brittle nails, dry cuticles, and more.

Acure Radically Rejuvenating SPF 30 Day Cream

Buy from: Amazon | iHerb | Target | Thrive Market | Ulta

Product description: Helps prevent sunburn. If used as directed with other sun protection measures, decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun.

Key ingredients: With turmeric, ferulic acid & vitamin C, for age performance.

Free of: parabens, sulfates, phthalates, mineral oil, petrolatum and silicone.

My experience: Now that I am in my 30’s I take more seriously the protection of my skin by always applying sunscreen. This is why I gave Acure a try but sadly this product didn’t work for me. It felt clumpy, left a white cast on my face, and it felt hard to rub it away.

What I recommend you do: From the reviews you can tell more people had the same issue, but there are more good reviews than negative. Maybe you might like it.

KVD Sinner Perfume

Buy from: Amazon | eBay | KVD Beauty | Sephora

Product description: Dark, sultry and empowering, this addictive fragrance is a little sweet, a little spicy and undeniably fearless. Cinnamon spices up vanilla and white florals at the heart of the fragrance, while base notes of vetiver, patchouli and wood form the deeper, darker nuances.

My experience: I already had the white colored bottle, which is the KVD Saint perfume, and wanted both matching bottles by also buying Sinner. Saint perfume is such a girly scent that I love (I talk about it in “5 Cruelty Free Brands You Need to Try in 2021“), and in my head Sinner was supposed to be the opposite. I imagined a dark, bad girl type of scent haha. Instead, for me it’s a soft scent like a perfume your granny would wear. I wear Saint on weekends to go out, and I use Sinner on weekdays for work days lol.

What I recommend you do: Some reviews describe the same experience as me. Most buyers seem to like it. If you go to Sephora you can smell a sample and decide for yourself.

TIP: KVD Beauty Saint and Sinner share the same floral soul, so each scent can be worn alone or layered together.

Bliss Drench and Quench Cream-To-Water Daily Moisture

Buy from: Amazon | CVS | Target | Ulta | Walmart

Product description: The Bliss Drench & Quench Moisturizer’s cream-to-water formula instantly transforms upon contact with your skin, delivering nutrient-rich, long-lasting hydration without a greasy residue. Perfect as a daily moisturizer, it features advanced Hydrozome technology which fortifies your skin’s natural moisture barrier, preventing dryness throughout the day. Vitamin C brightens your complexion and fights free radicals while German chamomile extract calms irritation.

My experience: I was using this twice a day, morning and night to moisturize my face but unfortunately it doesn’t moisturize much. I didn’t want to throw away the bottle, so what I did was add a couple of natural oils like Argan oil or sometimes Rosehip oil, and this made a difference.

I must say, I do love the turquoise color, it made me feel like in paradise!!

What I recommend you do: Some reviews describe the same experience as me. Most people have a good experience with this moisturizer. If you try it you might love it!

[…] I got introduced to the Kat Von D perfume when my sister gifted me the Saint perfume for one Christmas, since then I fell in love with the scent! Saint perfume is the white bottle, and there’s also the black bottle called Sinner, which honestly I don’t like. I talk more about it in the next blog post, “5 Cruelty Free Products You Should Not Buy in 2021“. […]
