As a Vegan
Leading up my visit to Orlando I was nervous. I kind of knew why, but it was also excitement…
A couple of months before I had read To Selena, With Love by Chris Perez. Growing up I always heard Selena songs, and I remember traveling to Guatemala and I would sing Selena songs with the girls from the same block.
Unfortunately Selena’s life was cut short. Just when she was reaching more success, and she was on her way to become well known as Madonna and other huge celebrity stars.
I’m glad Chris Perez wrote this book about his life with Selena. It gives us a glimpse on how she was really like on a personal level. This made me like Selena even more! And there’s also a Selena movie which I’m sure most of you have seen.
So knowing that Selena’s wax figure was going to be in Madame Tussauds Orlando only for a limited time I knew it was the perfect time to visit!
BREAKFAST – Denny’s
What I ordered at Denny’s was pretty simple, yet yummy. From the breakfast menu I got the oatmeal, bread with no butter, hash brown, and a side of fruit. I got the fruit to put it into the oatmeal. Not sure what else you can get vegan for breakfast. I left pretty satisfied!
FIRST MUSEUM OF THE DAY – Madame Tussauds & Orlando Eye
Our first Orlando stop was at Madame Tussauds. It had to be right? I had to see Selena first thing in the morning!
We got there half hour before their opening time, so we got a good parking spot and I did my makeup in the car. I put hoop earrings, and put on some red lipstick to get in the Selena vibe.
I was feeling so much excitement you have no idea! This was my kind of way “meeting’ her!
When we walked in and started seeing all the wax figures I was impressed by how real they look! This was my first time seeing wax figures in person. I saw Pitbull, Will Smith, Audrey Hepburn, Miley Cyrus, and so many others.
But when I got to Selena….. there was a whole area dedicated to her! She was on the spotlight, with a big screen behind her, her music playing, Selena’s wax figure just looked amazing! I was admiring every little detail about her. Her makeup, her signature red nails, her clothes, just everything. And then… I was in tears! It was a mix of emotions. Happy to see the wax figure, and sadness that she was taken from us too soon.
Nevertheless they had purple pens (which btw purple was her favorite color) and paper to leave her a note. I didn’t want to leave, but it was time to keep checking out the rest of celebrities…
My dream come true – I got to “meet” Selena. Anything for Selena’s! haha
I didn’t know they were this big haha
Audrey Hepburn was elegant and so beautiful.
My favorite movie will always be the first Jurassic Park.
|Leonardo DiCaprio was my first celebrity crush when I saw Titanic.
He’s so tall! Or maybe I’m too short lol
Little Lyn was enjoying it and then we headed to Orlando Eye. Orlando Eye is basically a tall giant observation wheel. I like that it had AC so you can comfortably sit, and they have music playing. This is a great way to avoid the Florida heat, and you get to see everything from way up high.
Another beautiful experience I highly recommended :))

SECOND MUSEUM OF THE DAY – Ripley’s Believe It Or Not
Our next stop was Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. This is something else I was excited about. I remember being young and always watching the TV show. Everything seemed interesting. Visiting the museum was no different.
They have walls of interesting things to check out. Strange and peculiar things to see from a tiny Michael Jackson made from a roach, to tiny art pieces inside the head of needles.
I was enjoying it the whole time!

LUNCH – Maoz
Using my trustee dandy Google Maps I searched for vegan options nearby haha. Maoz came up! I didn’t know there was a Maoz in Orlando. Maoz also used to be in Miami Beach and it was our go to place for a healthy meal on the weekends. I would get their falafel pita with veggies. And my favorite was their vegan Arroz con Leche (rice pudding). But sadly they closed.
I was looking forward to having lunch here so I ordered what I would usually get. To my disappointment the food wasn’t the same. It didn’t have a lot of flavor, and the rice pudding was not satisfying at all.
In the end I just ate the falafel pita but it wasn’t great.
THIRD & LAST MUSEUM FOR THE DAY – WonderWorks
Our last museum for the day before we headed back home to Miami was WonderWorks. My boyfriend had told me about this place before. He’d mention that when he visited with a friend they have a water sample of how cold the water was the day the Titanic ship sank. I wanted to test this by myself!
This is almost near the entrance, and it’s one of the first things we did. The water was freezing cold, and I just had my arm in. Imagine how it feel for everyone that day in the cold temperature, and falling to the water. My arm in the water lasted only for about 20 seconds.
WonderWorks is filled with fun things to do as a family. Especially for the kids. There’s about three floors if I’m not mistaken. The kids can play with giant bubbles, get to experience a simulation of an earthquake, hurricane and so much more.

LATE SNACK – Starbucks
Now time to head back to Miami. From Starbucks I like to get the same coffee as often. To make my coffee vegan I always order a mocha frappuccino with soy milk, and no whip cream. So satisfying!

What an enjoyable day in Orlando. Our whole day was basically indoors. Museum after museum and I truly enjoyed this more than visiting the Orlando theme parks. You don’t have to wait long lines, there is AC, and it’s a great way to avoid the hot weather.
One thing we would have different was to buy all the museum entrance tickets online. Sometimes you can get a discount through Groupon, and/or Ebates (get $10 cash bonus through my special link). Or even shopping for tickets on their official site is cheaper than buying it when you arrive there.
